I haven't been to the St. James and was wondering if extreme side orchestra row P (14th row, wasn't marked as partial view on Ticketmaster) would be an OK seat for Something Rotten. I could also pick front rows balcony as well, but I heard the balcony section was quite high for this theater. If anyone has thoughts on whether the sight line or view is decent from rear side orchestra, that would be much appreciated!

I've sat in the rear of the orchestra at the St. James a lot and it's much better than the balcony, but I don't know anything about it being obstructed for this show.

I sat in the front balcony for it and I was fine. The stage was pretty far away, so it was hard to make out the exact faces and things like that, but the whole stage was clear and I would sit there again if I saw it again

thank you for the responses! I was a little surprised by the difference in full prices ($119 for rear side orchestra and $77 for front balcony)...

I once sat in ORCH P 30 for Something Rotten and it was a great view, no obstruction. I'd choose that over balcony anytime.

The St James has very little legroom, so I would opt for whatever aisle seat you can get if you're taller than 5'5".

The balcony is a full view of the stage and certainly a wonderful perspective on the choreography, costuming, and lighting design.

With th that said, I would go with the orchestra side, if need be.  The cast members are positioned across the stage throughout however you will not miss much for too long.

The further from the stage the better.  The lobby would be good.  The restroom, better.
