Great to see the Titanic musical getting a run at Charing Cross - anyone planning to catch it?

May catch it in June.  I wasn't that familiar with it, other than knowing review had been mixed when it originally opened.  But this version seems to be getting very positive reviews.  I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has seen it.

I saw the Southwark staging when it played in Toronto last June and I thought that it was a very good production. Creative use of the space and the ability to transform the set into many locations. I would highly recommend it and I hope that it makes the trip back across the pond sometime soon.

Are you sure it wasn't really the Olympic which sank?

That is one of the bigger conspiracy theories . It may be true but we will never know. The original Titanic in NYC never was able to get it to sink. Still enjoyed it but the sets for it always will stay in my mind as tacky and cheap looking

The Southwark's had a really good run of US musicals lately - I think the small space actually helps inspire a different approach.

Have booked to see this on June 3 - really excited as I sadly missed the Southwark playhouse production. I saw the original Broadway show back in 1997 and was blown away. The score is stunning. Will be interested to see the cast announcement - a number of the Southwark/Toronto cast are now doing other things so there will be a few changes at least.

Also really excited to see RAGTIME  and  DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY later in the year (which I have already booked!). Ragtime is one of my all-time favourite shows. Have never seen Death Takes A Holiday but adore the cast recording from the New York production.

I've loved everything I've seen that Thom Southerland has directed, so great to have a whole season of shows directed by him at Charing Cross.

As someone who enjoyed the show immensely, I would appreciate some truth injected here.

During previews....yes, the spring system did not work correctly and the set did not sink. However, for the 2 years it ran after, in which I saw it 7 times, I have heard of no other reports of the problem continuing.

Mr Roxy - When you say never do you mean the performance you saw because your assertion is completely untrue. I saw it a couple of times and set worked fine. checked with some friends and it worked and I don't think there are reports of any ongoing issues.  I loved the design as did the Tony voters, which is why I assume it won the best scenic design award.
