I'm going next week to SPRING AWAKENING and was wondering if there will be a cast recording of the current musical? There one seems to be a cast recording for the original version in the mid 2000's. Am I missing some bit of info? Can't seem to find mention of a recording with the group onstage now. Thanks!!
It's been discussed here....and it seems rather strange to make a recording of a show that is geared for the deaf....since the stars could neither make the recording nor listen to it.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

What dramamama said, and we're also pretty late in the limited engagement of the show for them to suddenly announce a cast recording. Don't hold your breath!
So I guess I better buy the Original cast recording if I want to hear the music. Sometimes it's fun to be familiar with the music before I see a show. My friend in London who saw the original one seems to want me to go. I probably wouldn't be going if he wasn't constantly suggesting and recommending it.

I know. I was just being lazy, lol! I've started reading the previews thread, but haven't gotten far! Lol it's like when I used to ask my friend who was a theater critic in NYC for years, "what's a good show to see? What does he recommend?" He would direct me to his weekly column! He's also the same friend when I would ask a question of him, he would say, "you can google it!" What a sweetheart! Lol!
The revival is miles better than the original. Luckily, the original cast recording sounds practically the same. As much as I'd love to have Austin McKenzie's versions of the songs, there seems to be no need for a re-recording.
Has there been any announcement regarding filming the staged version for theatrical release ?
God knows they probably don't have the money for it, but this show deserves to be filmed much more than crap like Shrek the Musical. I guess it really makes sense that they aren't doing a cast recording due to much of the cast being non-hearing, but I would have loved a new album.

Yeah, you're right. It's a great recording. I just like variety when it comes to great scores, hearing different casts perform them. It'll be okay though!

Why don't they broadcast it live like what LCT productions do?
oh wait, they would probably have to bleep out all the ****s. lol.
The thing is, besides being an utter toad of a human being, Riedel usually has the least knowledge of the topic in the room. He doesn't usually understand the content or approach of a show, and is always completely and unfailingly socially ignorant, which makes it really infuriating when Susan can't get a word in edgewise. A definitive mansplainer; it's always painful when he has female guests. I watch the show sporadically when I really want to see a guest, because it's the only theatre talkshow we have, but it would be so much better without this hateful clown in a dadcoat.
