I don't what deals were made or why, but with all the complexities of our relations in the Middle East, reducing a $1 million gift to a quid pro quo for $29 billion dollars in weaponry strikes me as improbable and simplistic.
I think it's far more likely that with Iraq in disarray, we were propping up Saudi Arabia as a counter in the region to Iran.
