I'm guessing after I see it tomorrow night something from Fun Home will take top billing for me. In the meantime, I can't stop playing "You, You, You "from the Visit over in my head.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Can't decide between "Rings of Keys" or "Telephone Wire" from Fun Home. (My favorite number is, I think, "Bottom's Gonna Be On Top" from Something Rotten.)
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.
"Changing My Major", "Ring of Keys", & "Telephone Wire" from FUN HOME. Hearing each of the Allisons articulate these moments of self-discovery in song is so raw, honest & heartbreaking.
Guilty pleasure: I really adore Laura Michelle Kelly & "All That Matters" from FINDING NEVERLAND.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
"Ring of Keys" from Fun Home – no question. Sydney Lucas makes me feel very inadequate. All the Allisons do, actually.
"All That Matters" from Finding Neverland (I'm another Laura Michelle Kelly admirer – had no idea who she was before seeing the show and am now in love). Why is this song in the middle of the first act?
I also loved "A Musical" when I watched it, but that might not be so effective off stage... "Welcome to the Renaissance" is pretty catchy though.
Are we talking revivals as well? If so, Chenoweth's rendition of "Veronique" is ear-popping.
Didn't really have one favorite song this season. Highlights for me were What Say You, Meg from Last Ship, A Little Bit Less Than from It Shoulda Been You, and God I Hate Shakespeare from Something Rotten. Not really in love with any of the songs from Fun Home, but Telephone Wire would definitely be my favorite of the bunch.
