The only other time I've seen the show was with Michael & Lena so I was taking in both John's and Rebecca's performances. I thought she did a great job. She didn't wear a wig but had her naturally super curly hair in cornrows. She sounded great. Acted maybe a tad angrier than Lena.
I was there tonight and overall was really impressed with her. She sounded really fantastic during "Midnight Radio" and did things with her voice I really didn't know she was capable of. "The Long Grift" was good, a little bit too spoken for me, but she had a lot of feeling behind the whole thing. Her lowest notes across the board were a little bit shaky, she doesn't have as wide a range as Lena, but it didn't bother me at all.
She needs to work on the accent a little bit and her physicality could be a bit more masculine. But those things will come with more shows under her belt.
Overall she really is a fantastic replacement. She makes it her own, definitely a little bit angrier and more hard edged than Lena. She doesn't have the same sad eyes, she's got a bit of a smolder behind them. Really can't wait to see her again in a week or so when she's settled in more. She's got the makings of a really incredible performance.
The girl has a great voice, I'll give her that. I found her too girly. Having seen Lena and Miriam several times, they really came off masculine. She seemed too feminine. I never believed she was a man.
I loved her new black and gold dress at the end. I never liked Lena's outfit.
I saw her tonight and was impressed. Great voice, loved her Long Grift. Like others said, she's playing it angrier than Lena, which worked well. I didn't think she seemed girly, but she wasn't as masculine as Lena.
I shrieked with glee when I saw the new Midnight Radio outfit. Loved it.
I saw Rebecca last night, and her performance was stunning. I thought she nailed the accent, and with the exception of a line or two, she did a great job of maintaining the needed masculinity in her speaking voice. She'll definitely work out any small flubs as she settles in. And while it goes without saying, she sang like a dream.
My only real criticism is that I didn't care for her look as much as Lena's given that Rebecca was not costumed to look as masculine. The bit of facial hair Lena wore really helped to create the illusion, and the wig she wore was also to her benefit in that regard. From my seat in the mezzanine, at the right angle, Rebecca could most definitely be recognized as herself. That thought never crossed my mind seeing Lena. However, I recognize that's all design; beyond that, she's an excellent replacement.
Saw Rebecca tonight and she was wonderful. I agree she looks softer than Lena as a male but it was fine for me. Lena's male look was flawless. Rebecca may just need more time. Actually I found Rebecca more affecting and it's the first time I sobbed when Yitzak is handed the wig. Rebecca is just eyeing that wig in Johns hand with so much longing and heartbreak. I never saw that in Lena. Rebecca just tracked that wig with her eyes. I loved her finale look. It was a throw back to LaBelle or Nona.

I respect their opinion, but they didn't give an explanation as to "girly" except for saying her body is more feminine. Well, she can't control what her body looks like. Just because she has a different body type doesn't mean she can't look as masculine, or in that person's opinion, be as good in the role.

Why didn't you just say that in the first place? Prior to your last post, YOU had given no explanation for why she wasn't "too girly." Double standards.
She's tiny. She can't help that. I thought she was wonderful.
