He's physically perfect and let's face it, Queen and Freddie Mercury do NOT need to be treated as sacrosanct entities the need to be looked at with the utmost seriousness.
Philip Seymour Hoffman was just a wee bit taller than Truman Capote, yet through the magic of filmmaking his performance did not come off as a bad joke.
Jane, that picture is exactly what I was thinking. I thought Sasha kind of favors Freddie, so I thought perfect casting. I just wasn't in the mood tonight to write it and possibly get disagreed with. BTW, if and when I see this, the height of Sasha compared to Freddie would be the furthest thing from my mind.
I suppose it would be too much to ask for an actor of Indian descent to play Freddie, let alone a Parsi actor. I can't stand biopics that try to to compile every major event in a subject's life (see: Ray) rather than try to illuminate the personality of the subject. BUT, I do hope they don't totally whitewash his Parsi background.
Ethnicity aside, I agree with everyone else, I imagine Cohen will be smashing. Can't believe it's taken this long to make a biopic, frankly.
