hello all -

I've never been to NYC/broadway before and would like to plan a trip to go, the first thing that comes to mind is when is the best month/season to go to NYC, in terms of broadway and the nicest weather?

thanks.

Personally, I think Spring is really nice. Not too hot or too cold weather-wise and lots of new shows opening prior to the cutoff date for Tony Awards eligibility. Also, since many shows are in previews, you can often get some nice discounts, etc.

There are lots of positives and negatives about visiting at any time of year.

January-February--super easy to get cheap seats, you don't have to fight crowds. The weather may be brutal and snowy or it may be in the 30's/40's.

Spring--lots of new shows to see, the weather is better, but the spring break crowds are here for weeks.

Summer--beautiful weather, sometimes too sticky and humid; often tickets are more expensive because demand is higher.

September, October--my favorite time in New York because most of the tourists have left, and there is an electricity in the air with the new tv filming season, new Broadway shows, UN delegates in town, Fashion Week....everything that makes NY the magnet that it is.

Christmas--No city can come close to a midtown Manhattan Christmas. Yes, the crowds are beyond insane, but it is so much fun. The shows will be super duper expensive, but TKTS is still an option, and the best part is that for Christmas and New Year's week, the shows are all on wacky schedules so you can easily see two shows a day for an entire week.
