Well, this is compelling. Everyone will forget that Willis began on stage. He was in FOOL FOR LOVE (and was a bartender at Cafe Central; I knew him when, at least in the way you chat with a barkeep, since I lived at the Beacon Hotel for a brief while). And Marvel is one of the theater's treasures. How wise to choose a theater actor rather than a name. This could be good, if the script works. Just rewatched the film last week. It has the feel of a play, a two-hander for 80%.

"MISERY made its world premiere at Bucks County Playhouse in the fall of 2012."
No it didn't. Maybe this version, but there have been several stage adaptations of the story including the one in London that starred Sharon Gless in the Kathy Bates role.

Consider my interest piqued. I had a friend who saw the earlier 2012 Bucks County production and really enjoyed it, so I'll be curious to see how this plays out.
I want Bruce Willis to be as good as Elizabeth Marvel. It may be a long shot, but I like being surprised.
Warner Bros has been developing Misery as a play for a while, hopefully it'll work as it sounds like it could translate well as a play, I wonder if it's based on the film, the book or a bit of both.
I dunno.....how do we know Willis's ego won't be a problem?

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
I don't get why they ain't just doing the Simon Moore version, it's really good and also a 2 hander and already enjoyed a UK tour and limited London run.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

The character lays in bed for 90% of the show. I hope he can handle that much exertion.

Willis also did True West a while back at a small regional theater, simply because he wanted to do the play. He's legit.
That said, why pay $125 a ticket to see a two-person "sitting and talking" play of which there is already an excellent film version...by the same writer?
Couldn't care less about Bruce Willis (though I am surprised this is what he picked for his first Broadway outing, since the male role is far less interesting), but YES to Elizabeth Marvel. As far as I'm concerned, she's one of the best actresses working today and I'd see her in anything. I can't wait to see what she does with this role- I only hope the material matches her talents.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
While I have long admired him, and have found him charismatic in the past, lately he seems to sleepwalk through a lot of the films he's been in, giving the minimal effort. That, and recent reports from people who have worked with him don't make him out to be the nicest and easiest guy to work with, both with fellow actors/directors and with fans.
I really hope this production works, as I love both the novel and film of Misery. I just question if Willis is up to this.
