Jersey Boys 2nd National

Just saw the 2nd National tour of Jersey Boys last night in Bloomington. I know there was a thread about some changes and there many that I noticed. There are now 2 huge LED screens at the back of the stage. One that is that back wall and one that is in front of that that comes right behind the bridge. The bridge is now smaller also. The angled part only goes about hallway upstage and the horizontal piece goes all the way across.

The led screen was used very well I thought. There were only 2 times where I thought it was distracting. During the end of act 1 there is no longer the wall of flood lights. There is now a row of them on the floor and the top screen has a graphic of the lighting and the bottom half of the back screen has "flashes" that I thought looked very cheap, and the other time was the end of act 2. They displayed random circles and flashes and various designs during "Who Loves You" but it was not that terrible. All of there signs for the various clubs are now all on the screens. I thought they all were done very well, the Sea Breeze sign looked especially convincing. The only set pieces that fly in now are the car (only 1, there are more on the screen), the lamppost, the recording booth frame, and two lamps.

A few other random changes I noticed. There is now only one door for the record producers and the lighting changes and the different producers come out the same door after each slam. The front tracks are a little different. They now are completely straight and don't curve like before.

Overall this tour is looking very good. I plan on making another trip this weekend to see it again. This cast is very good. If you have a chance to see this tour, don't hesitate.

Also, we got moved from the balcony to the orchestra. They closed off the balcony and moved everyone down to the floor. Even though it was a smelter crowd it was a very receptive crowd!
