Well, this is surprising. From ART's Facebook page: "At the Gala: auctioning off tickets to Opening Night of ?#?WaitressART? on Broadway! Surprise! Really!"
That is odd. I can't wait to see it (at the ART) this summer, but that's sort of ballsy, no?
(And I don't remember any official announcement, although its oft mentioned as Broadway Bound.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I mean I'm Broadway was always the goal. I was in an audition class with a girl who sang a song from it. It def sounds VERY Bareilles, but the song lyrically didn't do or say much. She kept repeating the same phrases over and over again, so unless staged smartly, I feel like it could just be super boring.
Hopefully this means the show is in such good shape that they don't anticipate having to do a lot of work before Broadway and not just over confidence/the need to book a theatre.
Now that Jessie Mueller has been officially confirmed to do this at ART in August ... and it seems a Broadway transfer is confirmed, does anyone have any thoughts on when we'll get additional casting news? I'm not that familiar with the usual timing.
Some people involved in the workshop were Bryce Pinkham (another thread says he's out), Barrett Wilbert Weed, Amber Iman, Keala Settle ... Also Christopher Fitzgerald who seems unlikely since he's doing An Act of God and Andy Karl, still with On the 20th Century (he would be great as the husband in Waitress!)
