First off, does anyone know if they released any information on a US DVD/Blu Ray release date ?
Also, I was talking with my friend about it and she posed a very good question that I wasn't sure of the answer to. Why would the show do something like this to celebrate its ninth anniversary in London. Wouldn't it have been a better celebration if they did it for the show's tenth? Not saying that I didn't love seeing it in movie theaters again, I just thought that filming it live and bringing back former cast members etc would have been a better celebration to celebrate ten years in the West End.
No U.S. release date has been announced. However, the UK Blu Ray disc is region free and will play on any Blu Ray player, so you can order it from Amazon.uk (this does NOT apply to the DVD).
This was not filmed for the ninth anniversary (the show officially opened in May), but I also wonder why they did not just wait. Perhaps they really wanted this specific cast preserved, particularly Elliot Hannah and Ruthie Henshall, or maybe they were worried the show wouldn't make it to their tenth. Who knows.
