A new production of The Who's Tommy has opened to excellent reviews at The Paramount Theatre outside Chicago. Below is a link to some clips and interviews from the theatre's Facebook page:

Note: The Paramount under the direction of Jim Corti has consistently produced high caliber Broadway equivalent productions in the four years they have been running. Their previous production of Mary Poppins played to over 62,000 patrons in 6 weeks. See the following article by Chris Jones (Chicago Tribune) discussing this development:

I was JUST thinking that I'd love to see this show revived on Broadway again. ...And how fun would it be to see it hit the boards in the same season as the possible "Kiss of the Spider Woman" revival?

Saw it on Broadway and loved it, will be neat to see it done again.

Was good back then. Reviving it would be appropriate as its their 50th anniversay scary as that is...

Wow, this video REALLY inspires me to NOT want to see this production. I like the design elements but the off-key singing, the uninspired choreography that is done half-heartedly and with no purpose, the lack of acting from some and over-acting from others... OY! LOVE this show and would love to see a TIP-TOP revival in NYC. This is NOT it!

(And yes I realize this is all opinion based on a 2 minute and 22 second video, but this is their promo footage so one would assume it's the best they have to show to try and get people in their theater.)

Chicago may have lost most of its picture palaces but at least they have some in the burbs

This is in Aurora. Beautiful theater I had the pleasure of visiting almost 30 years ago. The other is the Rialto Square in Joliet.

Saw the production on Sunday….Holy MotherF***ing balls, this was fantastic. I have just moved to the area and I heard about this theater, which is gorgeous by the way, and I always wanted to see a production of Tommy. I am so glad I got to see this production. The design was fantastic and the cast was uniformly terrific. I was amazed of how professional of a production this was, they are performing Les Miserables in the spring, which in all honestly I really have no desire to see. However, after seeing the production of Tommy, I'm definitely getting tickets for Les Mis.
