I'm planning on a trip to NYC just to see Jennifer Nettles as Roxy Hart in Chicago. It is at the Ambassador theatre which of course has nothing but awful reviews and no pictures showing you what the view is like from the seats (other than the computer animated view which IMO doesn't help). Since I am going there just to see the play, I want the best seat I can get. So...second row or somewhere about 11 rows back? I've seen her front row in concert so I know I want to be as close as possible but just trying to see if row 2 is too close? How is the view and the acoustics? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I've sat in the front row a few times. If you have a chance to sit in the middle of the first row, there's a chance you might catch a rose at the end: when Roxie and Velma throw a few roses at the audience. Even if that doesn't happen, at least you'll be able to see your idol up close. It's worth a shot.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I've sat in first row before, and in fact am seeing Nettles from the first row in Feb. I've had no problem seeing it from there, since so much is played front and center. You might even enjoy a bit of extra leg room. I know my parents, who I'm treating, will definitely enjoy that part!

Thanks so much for the answers. I'm going with a few people so they are all saying to sit a bit back so they can get wider view. I'm sure either way I'll enjoy it. Hopefully if I sit further back that means I can get out the door faster! Do the performers usually stay around after to take pictures and sign autographs?
