An Amazing Story

Three aspiring musical theatre high school students Charles, Alex and Maya (graduated from Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in May 2014) wanted to put on Spring Awakening in honor of a dear friend who committed suicide. They met, put their heads together and raised the needed funds through friends and family on Go Fund Me. After a several phone calls and a little help from Charle's dad, they formed CAM and Co Productions and won the rights to put on Spring Awakening over the Summer of 2014. Maya's young friend who committed suicide was of Indian heritage. The budding young directors decided to use Holi powder (colored powders used in the Hindu religion) to represent the "awakening" of the characters in their play. Their 3 night show was sold out and was the most innocent and beautiful portrayal of Spring Awakening many of the attendees had ever seen. This company and its three directors have been nominated for awards which is astounding considering that they are all only 18 years old. All are pursing their hearts desire - a career in musical theater. A story worth telling, don't you think?
