It's not every day that a treasured longtime BWW member is in a play reviewed by the New York Times and praised, let alone with the phrase "played with piercing vitriol."
So bravo to SonofRobbieJ, on the good reviews for his performance in Asymmetric by Mac Rogers, at the 59E59 Theater, running through December 6th.
Rogers is an iconoclastic playwright, a unique voice, unlike any other in the theater today. And this production is the perfect synergy of collaborators totally attuned to his wavelength. The BWW poster in the key role is a superb actor, I can personally attest to it.

Thanks, you gorgeous people. This has been an extraordinary experience. I walk out of the theater every night feeling so friggin happy...which is strange cause my character is a really f*cked up individual. Hope some of you can make it out to see it! If you do, stay after and say hi!
I was able to grab a few hours of me time to see this show and let me tell you, it made Black Friday a few shades darker. I had a great time. The show moved at a nice clip and the tension was palpable. That Rob Maitner guy was able to find a real malevolent side that would not have been out of place at The Mineshaft if that notorious club were more like the movie Hostel. But meeting him after the show, it turned out he was super nice and down to earth, not stuck up at all.
And it's sold out! Waiting lists! We can only hope for a return engagement, since I hear an extension isn't currently possible. Knock wood, the audience is there.

If I'm being honest, I was a little taken aback by what Namo asked me to sign. And with permanent marker, no less!
We are, indeed, sold out, but we've been able to get most if not all the wait list in every night. This has been a really fun, polarizing show that people have some strong reactions to! It's how I like to celebrate the holidays!

It's a really fine play, with twists and turns that I did not see coming.
And having spent a few wonderful evenings talking and laughing with La Maitner and watching him bring his comic genius to the cabaret stage, I definitely did NOT see that performance coming either. Shivers-inducing!
