As usual, Off-West End/Fringe Theatre continues to be the life-blood of new musical theatre writing in the UK. For example - what appears to be an exciting new musical by composer Tom Lees and Librettist/lyricist Ray Rackham - APARTMENT 40C - will receive its premiere at the London Theatre Workshop (a wonderful performance space in Fulham Broadway) from Dec 3 to 20.
The cast includes the brilliant actor/singer/songwriter Alex James Ellison (seen earlier this year in Best Of Friends at The Landor and seen frequently on TV screens in the Flybe advert!) and West End/ Off-West End veteran Peter Gerald (Dreamboats And Petticoats, The Thing About Men, A Christmas Carol, Les Miserables, Oliver!, Little Shop Of Horrors, etc.)
I'm almost always more excited about fresh new writing in the Fringe than by much of the tired old fare on show in the West End, so I've already booked my ticket for this - really looking forward to it!
Hopefully lots of other Board members will head along to the LTW and support new writing!

Great introductory video about APARTMENT 40C on Whatsonstage - with interviews with the cast & creatives, song clips, etc. Getting more and more excited about seeing this on December 6.

Saw this last Saturday and it was terrific. A beautiful, intelligent, witty and (at times) moving piece of musical theatre - superbly staged and with 6 fantastic performances. I urge anyone who loves new musical theatre writing - or loves musical theatre at all - to get to Fulham Broadway to see this.
