<------------------- So he started to favor his left leg yesterday, and this morning was getting wobbly. Anyone have experience with pup problems with hips/legs? Vet tomorrow.
He's seven. The rear right leg is the problem. One interesting thing is that he loves to run, and he still did this morning. When he slows down to a trot he sort of skips, and as he slows down to a walk, his right leg is very weak.
I'm just keeping his activity to a minimum now, and will find out more tomorrow.
Even though they still behave like puppies, seven is middle aged for a lot of breeds. Keep him low activity today and let us know what the vet says. I find myself going down a rabbit hole of concern bordering on depression when something goes wrong with our dog (who is not now nor has ever been named Oscar nor do I personally know any dogs named Oscar, abscessory.)
He's a Westie. I changed my avatar to a pic of him, but it hasn't hit the board yet, though it's on my profile page. I didn't know there was a lag time between changing your pic and having it go live.
Hence the arrow pointing at my mug instead of my dog. Check back to see when he finally pops up. He's a real beaut!
The dog walker just called and said that he was limping a little but in good spirits. She limited his walk and sat with him at the house for a while.
I'm not freaking out until after we've seen the vet.
my 12 yr old labby is recovering from a severe case of tendonitis and arthritis in her actual paw. The arthritis in her paw is what threw me. Two vet visits missed it, X-rays finally found it. Two months later, she's alright. It was a combo of Rimadyl (not Metacam!), muscle relaxer Tramadol, and some thick wrapping and cushioned booties that healed her!
since we're sharing, i've been squirreling away the tramadol. Didn't want pup to get hooked, and i figured i'd save them for emergencies when i'm dead out of my benzos you know
in Thailand you can get XANAX!!!!! XANAX everywhere!!!
I don't love the tramadol. it's lame. but for emergencies when the entire medicine cabinet is empty and i'm looking for stuff to mix with said tequila, i guess it's better than nothing..
So Corey just got a clean bill of health. It was a dislocated kneecap in the rear leg. It pulled some tendons. A combination of meds and some physical therapy did the trick. His whole demeanor has changed. He looks like his picture again. Thanks for the advice.
I just have to figure out a way to keep him from tearing around after squirrels and deer when we're in Bucks County.
