Posted: 8/7/14 at 5:24pmAfter Eight, I'm not invalidating your opinion, and I certainly am coming more towards agreement with you on this show, but I just know that it will happen for any thread on PASSION, MARIE CHRISTINE, MR. BURNS, or FUN HOME, and I just love the fact that I can always predict when it will happen and it usually does.
Anything regarding shows stated by this account is an attempt to convey opinion and not fact.

After Eight and I have had lovely discussions regarding Herman shows, and, most recently, House of Flowers.
However, in threads regarding Tesoro, LaChiusa, or, worst of all, "he who must not br named", I know that he and I will not have the same opinion.
Although, in the case of The Wild Party, I wonder if he has seen the final version of the show, as in early previews it was radically different and inferior to the brilliant final version.
One thing i will say is that he usually praises the cast.

You guys are talking more about After Eight than about Fun Home, which is probably just fine with After Eight.
Anyway, I never saw this, but does it really stand a chance in Broadway or is it going to be another Passing Strange? I don't know the answer to this. I'm just asking......

Oh, it stands a chance, all right. The media hype machine will go into overdrive to make sure it not only stands a chance, but that it flourishes. Talk about a critics' darling! There'll be no escape from it. Then add the Tony Award nominations, wins....

Posted: 8/7/14 at 8:15pmI loved Fun Home. Really really loved it. It was one of the most moving theatrical experiences I've ever had. That ending. I just sat there and sobbed. Must be a father daughter thing. I'm wondering how the staging will work. Circle in the square seems big, but I have total faith. I'm all in. Maybe it's not as big as I remember? I hope the cast remains in tact, but the kids must be getting big. I especially hope Michael Cerveris stays with the production.

I'm very torn about Fun Home. I left the show feeling a little underwhelmed but I find myself addicted to the cast recording. Did anyone else feel like the story and music of Fun Home were great but the production itself was lacking?

I'm psyched if just for the reason that I didn't catch it off Bway. I've had so many friends (and of course many of you here) simply rave about this.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Posted: 8/7/14 at 8:41pm^ I did not feel that way, but at least it is pretty clear that the production itself is going be revamped for Broadway since they are sticking it in Circle, a theatre that doesnt necessarily fit with how the show was previously blocked. So, a lot of changes will have to be made!

I loved the staging of Fun Home at the Newman. I thought the production was top-notch. And as much as I loved the small orchestra and the orchestrations, it will be thrilling to hear the score done Broadway style!
Glittergrll, Circle in the Square is not that big. When I was there recently for Lady Day, it seemed pretty intimate. And there will be lots of changes made to the staging to fit the space, as VotePeron said. As much as I loved the original and was blown away by it, I'm looking forward to the new iteration.

Posted: 8/7/14 at 11:20pmI'm excited to see their marketing materials and their logo and stuff. I would imagine they'd have to keep it a thrust just for the "house" reveal moment. If it was in the round you couldn't do that as much.

I do hope the entire original cast continues forward, even thought I doubt that will truly happen. My major hope is that Jeanine Tesori takes home her first Tony Award!

There will not be a score on Broadway this year that will top Fun Home. Jeanine Tesori is winning the Tony. These are not assumptions, they are facts.
Also, I for one hope they maintain the same gorgeous orchestrations from the Off-Broadway run. I like small orchestras, they sound far more detailed. That's what I loved about Fun Home's score. Also, the use of percussion is thrillingly propulsive.
