Hi all, I've never been to A.R.T. and I see that there is a row in the mid orchestra that is labeled "obstructed view" and is priced at $50, has anyone sat in these seats before or know what makes them obstructed?

One row?? In the middle? I've not seen that before and I was just buying tickets about a week or two ago.

Usually the ART can boast not a bad seat in the house. Hm.

(scurrying over to check it out. )

Wow, that was definitely NOT labeled that way when I got my fix. A change in set design? how odd that the row after the break could be obstructed bot no other row. I really can't imagine what that could be.

I'm going on 8/2,but that doesn't help you now for buying tix.

If I remember correctly, the seats in the "obstructed" row are not raked higher than the row in front of them which is across the walkway. Lots of leg room, though. The box office staff at ART is super helpful and they handle their own calls (they don't send them out to Ticketmaster or Telecharge), so I would recommend calling them for the scoop. Going on Friday, can't wait! I can't believe this run didn't sell out the day it went on sale. All the Way was sold out even before the first preview.

If that were the reason (and its not) they would listed as obstructed all time and that is definitely NOT the case.

we sat there for All the Way and were extremely happy with the seats. Cheaper than the ones around us, tons of legroom, and truly no obstruction

I have an actual answer to this! That front row is an added row of folding chairs they put in the raked section. They are on the same level as the last row of the front section, so your view can be obstructed a little. I sat there for Glass Menagerie last year, and the view was fine.

Does anyone know why the two front side rows are yellow/cheaper? Those are the seats I got. Figured they were a great deal. The stage seems very open so I didn't think they'd be obstructed view or anything.

I don't remember seeing added folding chairs for Glass Menagerie (not implying they were there, just surprised I didn't notice!)

This would also explain why it only recently showed up, they must have gotten to a certain point in sales, and decided to add the row. (And of course, makes sense that only the one row is "obstructed") Good for them.

As for the very front seats, they weren't always at the cheapest rate. I have no idea how or when they make the decisions. I'm sitting there late in August. I'm going twice, once with a friend from mid house, center and then from those front row seats with my daughter that simply adores Jordan.

Thanks for the info all! I decided to buy the obstructed view seats since it sounds like they should be just fine. Can't wait to see this show!!
