Hey everyone. I've wanted to see BOM for years now. Tickets are so expensive on Broadway, I was thinking about going to see it on tour in Philadelphia (much closer to my house anyway.) Is it worth it to save money? Or is it a noticeable difference that I should just hold out to see the real deal? I'm not looking to spend more than $80 a ticket, so I might wait til the tickets eventually drop a bit (even Philadelphia tickets are minimum $67 for very back row.)

I'm sure the quality of the tour is just as good as Broadway. If the tickets do end up being cheaper, definitely go for it.

I've seen it on B'way (original cast), in Boston last year, and in PVD last week, and it's worth seeing the tour instead of on B'way if saving money matters. It's the jokes and the songs that are what you're going to see, not the actors (and besides, the originals are long gone). In Providence we paid half what we paid on B'way, and had better seats, and laughed just as hard.

For my money, Ben Platt is a better Cunningham than Christopher John O'Neill, but Mark Evans has it ALL OVER Nic Rouleau. I was as impressed with Evans as I was with Rannells, though they're very different performances.

I preferred Nic over Mark, but I saw Mark the same week he started and have seen Nic many more times (and more recently) than Mark, so my impression of him may no longer apply. :)

I haven't seen Alexandra Ncube as Nabulungi, but if you have a chance to see a non-Syesha Mercado Nabulungi, take it.

Great thanks! I think I'll either get the last row balcony ($67) or mid row balcony ($82) Thanks for the input.

The Book of Mormon is one of the most expensive shows on Broadway, yet I've never paid more than $27 for a ticket! Did SRO when the original cast was on Broadway and then won the lottery in Pittsburgh. In all honesty I enjoyed the touring cast more than the OBC (with the exception of Cunningham, Josh Gad was better, IMHO). They had much more energy, more exhuberent vocals, etc.

wish there were discount tickets for the tour, they still kill you after fees. $160 for two of the cheapest shows in the house is a bit steep. Any known discount programs for BOM??

That's almost like asking for a discount for Wicked.

So, no. Though all cities are required to have a lotto and many of the tour cities have had a twitter lotto as well.

Good luck. I don't think Mormon has discounted in any major city they played.

Saw it with Mark Evans and he was incredible. My favorite Price after Rannells. Chris O'neill was great as well. The tour is no less than the Broadway or London version

I saw the 1NT last year. The cast, which most are still with the show, are a kick. Christopher does out age most of the cunningham's, but he was hilarious. And Grey Henson is a charm! I hope he'll get to transfer with the role to New York. Broadway audiences need to see him. I will be catching the 2NT company this July. Has anyone seen Larsen as Price yet?

I found Mark Evans to be amazing in the role. I met him after the show, and he was very gracious and took the time to sign my program, take a picture, and have a short conversation with me. I prefer him to Rannells. He let his accent slip a few times, but overall he did a good job sounding American. I would have been fine if he didn't cover his accent at all, it's actually really cute.

I saw Dana Joel Nicholson (O'Neil's standby) go on as Cunningham. I thought he was hilarious. His comedic timing was spot on, and his vocals and acting were amazing. I found him almost as good, if not better, than Josh Gad.

Alexandra Ncube was hard to understand at times with her accent, but I loved her "Sal Tlay Ka Siti". She has a very pretty voice, but many lines were almost intelligible.

I would save the money and see the tour.

I have. He's FANTASTIC. He's very excitable, sounds great, and is so, so funny.

Unless he's extended, Mark Evans said awhile back he leaving on June 29th. I'm excited to see the tour in Philadelphia, too, having only seen the Broadway company.

There were discounts in NYC before it opened. Only 30% but it was worth it!

I can't believe Philly is so expensive. top ticket in Providence was $80 (although Golden Circle might have been more) and that put you in great Orchestra seats.

Top ticket for Wicked in Philadelphia last summer was 175, I believe? Wicked did lotto loser tickets after a fair number of performances. Mormon is playing the Forrest, so it's a much smaller space than the Academy of Music, so I'm sure it'll be harder to get a ticket. That being said, and I've only checked opening night since tickets went on sale, but it still seems like there's a good number of seats still available.

I think the BOM Tour luster is wearing off. I got $27 tickets on stubhub. The scalpers couldnt sell them full price. Look on Stubhub for your city.

I'll weigh in with my thoughts tomorrow. It's playing here in Columbus OH right now and I am going to see tomorrow night's show. Of course, I have nothing to compare it to since this is the first time I will be seeing BOM.

well, you all convinced me. Ended up getting 2 eats in the very last row in the balcony (aka the nose bleeds) for 75 each after tax. Read some reviews on the Forrest Theatre (Philadelphia) and it looks pretty small, so hopefully those seats are still okay. Can anyone comment on the sound quality of the tour??

I've seen the tour twice. It's a good production, I don't think you'll miss anything seeing the tour instead of the bway version.

Re: Sound quality.
Obviously, it will vary a bit by venue as the acoustics and space change. Mormon does have a nice sound design. / good speaker array structure on both tours, so Id imagine it would be fine. However, it is hard to give a specific opinion given the acoustics of different space.
