Broadway Boo_ _ , I agree with you. Any celebrity Roxie would only have to commit to a contract of 6-8 weeks, give or take. It's entirely possible that Nicole's financial requirements weren't met by the producers of Pippin. I get the sense that the Weisslers are extremely tight with a buck.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I would love to see Nicole in Pippins as the Leading Player but would hate to see Patina go. If anyone thinks her voice isn’t up to it just watch this video from the final of the x factor UK. i’ve seen her actually and she is quite good. She can defiantly dance. so she suits all needs!!

Nothing is wrong with me, but she was out of her depth at that performance, and its a fairly common opinion so surprised at your apparent outrage. And I am not a theatre snob at all, and it has nothing to do with previous casts (although FYI I am not a fan of the original Phantom cast). Im guessing your a hardcore Nicole fan so no pint arguing. And as I said, other performances (such as Xfactor) have been strong, and her Don't Cry For Me Argentina is excellent

And it is my opinion, which i am entitled too despite what you may think. Maybe she was better live in the theatre or in rehearsals, and im sure ALW did think she was great. But for you to suggest that ALW can't possibly make a mistake or be wrong makes you sound foolish to be honest.

Teenage Wicked fans in the middle of Iowa, this question isn't for you.

So, for those of you who have more of an inside track on this type of thing, when we see these types of "false" or "early, unconfirmed" reports, are they ever the product of someone connected to the production purposefully leaking the information to, well, test the waters? To gage public reaction -- whether that be theatre insiders/influencers, tourists, general public, fans of the artist etc?

^ If they were to do that at all, I can only see it being done with ideas or concepts about a show, not with actual casting decisions, or if the casting decision is already firm and the contract signed, they might do it to start a buzz. If they did it without first talking to Nicole as an example about the part, that's a sure way to make her feel the producers are unprofessional. And if she was in talks with them, what are they going to say "well we put it out there but TheaterNut45 on BWW didn't think you could act well enough and LuponeIsMyJesus on Talkin' Broadway thought you're hot but didn't think the role was right for you, so sorry Nicole, it's a no go". I think they would trust their own judgment of who is a suitable replacement, maybe confidentially consulting with a few trusted associates in the industry if they did that at all. They didn't take a public referendum on replacing Andrea Martin and I can't see them doing that here.

According to the New York Daily News "Confidential" column, apparently only a select number of people were privvy to Nicole's possible casting as "Leading Player." It's possible that someone within that select group "spilled the beans" before negotiations were finalized. Someone is in biiiig trouble. (scroll down for the paragraph dealing with Pippin)

Oh please, why are they treating this as if it were a breach in national security? It's only a casting decision for a Broadway show. Much ado about nothing.

In THIS world, Carlos, Patti LuPone's bowel movements are "breaking news." It's easy for many who post on here to lose perspective.... And that is a very dangerous thing.

Okay, that made me laugh, because sadly it is true.

F T R: I think Nicole Scherzinger would make a wonderful Leading Player in PIPPIN.

Well, it wdoes matter for those involved with the show and fans too. If the negotiations were scuttled because of the news leak, then the show may have lost a worthy candidate to replace Patina Miller. I think that in the case of "Pippin", the show IS the star.

I'm sure no decisions were made BECAUSE of a leak. That's simply ridiculous.

Patti taking a sh*t... That's a mental image I do not need.

But it's an image many on this Board would love to see or know about it, as much as they try to deny it. So sad.
