Curiosity kills the cat, so I do hope that we will have an announcement soon.
Since Cinderella has been done Meron and Zadan already back in the 90s, I do
have doubts its Cinderella. Still hoping for The King and I or else Disney's
Beauty and the Beast. Both will be a treat.

Oliver just seems so dark for a holiday season show. (Not that A Christmas Carol is all sweetness and light but at least the ending is upbeat).

THE KING AND I is fairly adult and dark too. It's not pure sugar like SOM.
I think the kiddies would be bored to tears by it.
It's going to be something entertaining for the whole family. I would not be surprised if it winds up being GREASE.

Theater purists don't want to see a sanitized version of Grease. What's the point? If M&Z do Grease, they should take it to HBO.

From what I've recently heard if they can get the big name to sign on as the Fairy Godmother in the next few weeks then "Cinderella" is a go if not, they move on. I assume it's the same mentality as before, "We get Carrie to sign on and go from there."

Why would you need a big name for Cinderella when you have Laura Osnes? If this is true then I hope Laura Osnes will be playing the lead. Her or Sierra would be magical.

^^They're going want ratings. As we all know, Carrie Underwood was without a doubt the reason "The Sound of Music Live!" drew such high ratings.

A name brings in the ratings. Laura Osnes, Sierra Boggess - not so much.

Personally, I believe it's going to be "Oliver!"

I noticed that Kelly Clarkson and Michael Buble did TV specials for NBC last month. I wouldn't doubt it if one of them will be featured in this year's broadcast.

You know, if they hadn't already done The Sound of Music, I think many of you would be complaining that the Nazi plot line was too dark for "the kiddies."

Dark is okay. Kids like to be scared (a little bit). It actually keeps them engaged. I don't think "Oliver!" is too dark by any means. Not any darker than Harry Potter. It's a story that has stood the test of time for 150 years already. It has songs in it that most people have heard before (almost as much as The Sound of Music), and it has a bunch of kids in it.

My choices:

1. Mary Poppins starring Kelly Clarkson
2. The Wizard of Oz starring Ariana Grande
3. Wicked starring Jennifer Lawrence and Anna Kendrick (I know, it will never happen.)

I like the idea of Willy Wonka! And Ariana Grande as Wendy in Peter Pan.

They don't actually show Nancy's death on stage, even though we all know that's what happens to her.

You've seen the show, right? It's not a Jack the Ripper moment.

"Oliver!", the film, was rated G when it was released in 1968, and the rules were much stricter then.

I love when people suggest shows that are already owned by other major corporations. MARY POPPINS is owned by Disney, and Disney owns ABC Television. End of discussion.
