I'm very excited for this, but also a little nervous. Gary Griffin did this show at Chicago Shakespeare in the Upstairs Theatre ten years ago, and I've heard that he didn't have the best solution to present the show in a non-proscenium setting. I absolutely adored his production of Follies last year, but I think Sunday would be a bit harder to put on a thrust stage. Nevertheless, I'm thrilled to hear about this cast.
The article mentions that Kevin Gudahl, Heidi Kettenring, Sean Fortunato, and Ora Jones are also in the cast. Does anyone know who they're playing? I would imagine Heidi as on of the Celestes, but after seeing her in as diverse roles as the Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd, Harper in Angels in America, and Olive in Spelling Bee, I'm convinced she can do just about anything. Also, I'd assume Kevin Gudahl would be playing Jules.
This article from playbill has some publicity photo, and it also specifies who is playing which part. Apparently, Heidi Kettenring and Kevin Gudahl are playing Mr. and Mrs. I adore both of them, but I think they'd be an odd pair. Well, anyway, this production will probably get major comparisons to the last time they did the show at Chicago Shakespeare, with a cast that included Andrea Burns and Robert Petkoff. I'm sure Jason Daniely and Carmen Cusack will be great, but they have quite a bit to live up to.
It seems every Chicago singing actress over 60 has played the Old Lady, but my mom did it first, at the Goodman in 1987. The cast also featured John Herrera as George, Paula Scrofano as Dot, Deanna Dunagan as Yvonne/Naomi, Linda Emond as Nurse/Harrier and Linda Balgord as Celeste 2.
I remember Marin saying in an interview that she and Jason hoped to do this show together someday. I wonder why she wasn't chosen to play Dot opposite him.

Robert Petkoff was really great in that production in 2003 as George, it's a little confusing that that they are using his photo in all the PR for the show. I thought they were bringing him back until I read this thread.
