I don't hear any background hiss myself. Ethel is a tad raspy, but it's not background noise. That's her voice, front and center. LOL

BK- What a triumph! Got mine in Rochester, NY today and all I can say is that the work you have done on this is nothing short of a miracle. To be able to hear things in the orchestrations that were never before present is just amazing! Everything sounds so crisp and new, for those of us who were not around in 71 at the Wintergarden Theater, this is truly a treat, as it is the closet we will ever get.

I really hope the fans of musical theater appreciate everything you continue to do for us, by remixing and remastering these Cast Recordings. Between the work you did on this and Promises Promises alone you should be given a special Tony Award in my book for your dedication to the art form! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

And per Sunday, the reissue sounds cleaned up to me. A strong improvement on the original CD issue, to my ears, at least.

Mine arrived today in NY. It sounds absolutely wonderful.

I was a bit worried, because the jewel case was damaged. Two of the prongs that hold the CD in place were broken leaving the disc floating around inside of it. Luckily there didn't seem to be any damage to the disc itself (which I have had happen in the past when similar damage during shipping occurs).

This is my first order from Kritzerland, but I don't think it will be my last

Received my copy today in Ohio! Thank you to everyone involved in this project! It is great to hear these performances and orchestrations like never before. I'm Still Here and Losing My Mind are heavenly. Thank you to Kritzerland! This is definitely going to be on repeat for a while.

As Best says, no damage at all to Broadway Baby. Tape has hiss of course and should - never want to do away with it because you totally compromise the beautiful high end. But the thing to remember here is that the original CD releases and LP release were off album masters that were a generation away from the session masters - this is the first time the first generation tapes have been heard.

As to the damaged prongs - it's infrequent but is SOP for CD releases - it's because of the machines used for assembling at the pressing plant - I guess sometimes something doesn't align correctly. It's actually surprising that it doesn't happen more often, although I'd say about half the CDs I get from amazon or elsewhere have broken hubs.

Thanks for that, bk. I adjusted the balance on my PC speakers and it did the trick. Sorry if it seemed like criticism, obviously was my device. I'm on listen 4 or 5 lol. So beautiful, top to bottom. The small details that you pulled out are remarkable.

The CD came today, and along with it came memories of the past long ago. On a pleasant summer day, we spent our second anniversary at a matinee of Cliff Gorman in "Lenny" and an evening of mystical nostalgia at "Follies". About 16 months ago, I went to the Kennedy Center and saw the new production of one of my favorite shows and wrote a personal/positive comment on the BW message board that night. Since then, I have bought the album and have listened to it numerous times, along with the CDs of the Lincoln Center concert version, the Papermill Playhouse productions, as well as my cassette of the OBWC of "Follies." [Yes, I think I still have the 8-track copy of the original.]

But, today, the magic appeared in the mail with the remixed CD of "Follies." I may have forgotten a lot over the past 40 years of many parts of my life. But the shows that have meant something to me have remained locked, focused and alive in my mind. "Follies" is one of my many definitive remembrances. And, this new CD brought many things back to me. I guess, I relive the past in much the same way as the the characters in the play. This album is sharp, clear and perfect -- in my opinion. I am sitting here listening to it for the 3rd time today, and reading the text on Aronson's scenic design. I do remember a lot for sitting in the 3rd row of the mezzanine at the WinterGarden in 1971. I just turned around and am looking at a 15x15 needlepoint of the original logo which I did about 25 years ago.

Needless to say, "Follies" is special to me and I want to take this opportunity to thank the producers and remixers and everyone else for a fantastic CD!!

I have the original pressing LPs of FOLLIES, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, and INTO THE WOODS. All are in perfect condition but the mastering leaves much to be desired.

For anyone who hasn't picked up the other Sondheim remasters from a few years ago, there's a very noticeable difference and it's well worth the expense. However, this FOLLIES tops them all.

Sony/Columbia RCA, which is now the Broadway Masterworks Label. The Company and Night Music remasters are divine. I held out on the Sweeney reissue but there's quite a difference. All are well worth the extra investment for replacements (and not too expensive, either).

"In Buddy's Eyes" just brought me to tears, bk. Beyond all the wonders of what you've accomplished here, I thank you most for finally giving Dorothy Collins' heartbreaking, deeply nuanced, technically unparalleled FOLLIES performance its proper due. It's probably my all-time favorite musical vocal performance, and I feel as if I'm hearing it as it should be for the first time. I'm over the moon. Thank you.
