Producers Barry and Fran Weissler are pleased to announce they have obtained financing for a revival of Jerry Herman’s classic musical “MAME”. The production is due to open in December 2012 at a yet unamed Shubert theater. The all-star cast will be led by legendary sitcom actress, infomercial phenomenon, and Broadway veteran Suzanne Somers as the beloved, madcap Auntie Mame. Former Soap Opera Queen, television infomercial spokeswoman and Broadway veteran Susan Lucci will play Mame’s best friend Vera Charles. Mindy Cohn who rose to fame on the 1980’s sitcom "The Facts of Life” will play Agnes Gooch. Country music legend Merle Haggard is reportedly in negotiations for the role of Beauregard Burnside.
The producers have yet to hire a director or a design team but they envision a minimalist production with Mame’s Beekman Place townhouse suggested by photo projections and an airport-style stair truck in place of the sweeping staircase used in previous productions. Cast members will wear silver lamé negligees during the boom times of the 1920s, changing to black and brown negligees for the Depression, and green silk negligees once Mame becomes rich again.
Barry Weissler was quoted as saying, "Fran and I very excited about this production. We are thrilled to welcome Mame Dennis back to Broadway after too long an absence. We look forward to a long and successful run."

“I hesitate to give this line of discussion the validation it so desperately craves by perpetuating it, but the light from logic is getting further and further away with your every successive post.” <<>>

"I know where they can get the airline style staircase! Probably really cheap!"
If it is really cheap, let Barry W. know. He will buy it off you in a New York minute (of course he will make you drop at least 25% off the asking price).
