Cumberland County Playhouse holds private prepared auditions on Thursday, May 10 and a group casting call (no prepared material needed) on Saturday, May 12, for kids age 8 and up, teen and adult volunteer roles in The Music Man by Meredith Willson. Music director Ron Murphy joins Playhouse Resident Choreographer Leila Nelson (Chicago, All Shook Up), who makes her debut as director/choreographer with this production. The Music Man stars returning National Tour veteran Britt Hancock and CCP’s Sound of Music star Lindy Pendzick as Harold Hill and Marian the Librarian. Playhouse leading resident actors Jason Ross and Carol Irvin co-star as Mayor Shinn and his priceless wife, Eulalie. Hancock and “Pickalittle Lady” Weslie Webster will advise Ms. Nelson as Assistant Directors, with Jim Crabtree producing, and Leonard Harman’s classic scenic design. Rehearsals start May 22, it opens June 22, and runs in rep (Mainstage) ‘til September 1, 2012.

On Thursday, May 10, individual auditions for teens and adults start at 3:30pm by appointment. Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song and a one minute monologue. On Saturday, May 12 the group audition meeting (for those not auditioning individually) will be held at 5:30pm for potential River City citizens, Pickalittle Ladies, and kids ages 8 and up. No prepared material is needed, but additional readings and callback auditions will be scheduled later on. Excellent roles are available for volunteers, including many characters familiar from the film. Some alternating may be possible to accommodate school and work schedules. Interested Playhouse veterans not available these days should call to express interest and availability.

All interested volunteers are asked to call Meka at 931.484.4324, to register for an individual or group audition, or for additional information. The Music Man is filled with small town people and kids who like to sing, is rated G, and might be an excellent project experience for families to share.
