Philadelphia, Here I Come! To The Donmar

The Donmar is to present a classic of Irish theatre this summer.

Brian Friel's 'Philadelphia, Here I Come!' is to get its first West End revival since 1994.

The theatre will make its new season announcement soon but this is one confirmed production for the summer/autumn season.

The Donmar cast will feature Rory Keenan.

'Gareth O'Donnell is fed up with his dreary life in Ballybeg, with his silent father, his humiliating job and his frustrated love for the lovely Kathy Doogan who married a richer, more successful young man. Gar wants out -
So, Gar has accepted his aunt's invitation to come to Philadelphia. Now, on the eve of his departure, he is uncertain about his decision but what does he really think of the people and places he is leaving behind? In Brian Friel's poignant comedy, we get two lead characters in one man and a chance to see and hear what private thoughts Gar has as he leaves Ireland and heads for the New World and, he hopes, a new life.'

Lovely, such a beautiful play - will be great in such an intimate setting. Any idea who's playing Madge?
