On Monday we have free tickets to see Top Hat with uni, however a few of us have a rehearsal til 4pm so are gonna drive up from Bournemouth then, and I am wondering if anyone would recommend a cheap car park in London, not too worried about distance from Aldwych as we should arrive about an hour before the show starts, but closer would be better!!!
This isn't specifically helpful, but the meters end at 6.30, so you can get pretty close in (stay outside the congestion zone) and get the tube in. Just choose a tube station on your side of the city,
We come in from Norwich and park just by Euston station. You're into the west end within 20 minutes.
Can't be of any help regarding parking, I'm afraid - I've never attempted to drive in London.
But, abitoftap - why on earth would you want to get the tube from Euston? lol Even with my arthritis, I walk from Euston station to the West End in 20 minutes!

To be honest, a bus would take a wile, and a cab would be a fortune from Bournemouth! :) but in all honesty, we dont mind parking outside of London and travel in, as we know alot of the time, this can be quicker, but yet again, any recommendations of where to do this to/from would be appreciated! Our biggest issue, is we can not leave Poole (near Bournemouth) til 4pm and the show starts at 7:30 so the quickest way really takes prominence over cheapest.
The train takes the same time as driving, and due to the times, it would get us into London 30 minutes later than driving, and would cost £150 for all 3 of us. We are students after all!
Monday the West End will be pretty dead, if you are leaving about 4pm, you won't be arriving until 6:30, so you will just be missing the congestion charge and free to park after this time also, parking available around Covent Garden, turn left by the Novello and just cruise around the streets around there, until you find a space, there are places next to the Novello and Fortune theatre, go on Google Maps and put the man on the Strand outside the Novello and go for a virtual walk about.
If you arrive before 6:30, wait outside the congestion charge, until it is finished.
Personally I would park at Twickenham and train it in to Waterloo and walk over Waterloo bridge to venue.
I agree. Parking in central London can be a nightmare. I park outside (Earlsfield) and then take the train in. If you find a better solution please pass on the information lol . . . Good luck and enjoy the show :)
I have parked in Hammersmith before (there's a good multi-storey just off the junction for the flyover) and then gone in on the tube all the way to Embankment on the District Line for the West End! :)
