Stockard, I think groups are the least interesting for the public. Next, I'd guess the over 30's , then the men, then the women.
I'm not worried about Rachel if she doesn't win. Like AI, they're better off when they don't win. I can only imagine the offers she has already, just waiting til she's done with the showl
Stockard you didn't ask for my opinion so I hope it's okay that I give it :) . Personally, I don't think the groups are doing well because groups aren't really relevant these days in my opinion. I think we're past the days of NSync and others. Personally, I think a lot has to do with Paula.
In regards to Rachel, I can only imagine the bidding wars with Nickelodeon and Disney if Rachel doesn't win.
Of course I don't mind you giving your opinion! I think you are right. Unless it's a rock band, the types of groups that are on this show aren't very popular right now. I also was thinking that most of the viewers are probably also AI viewers and used to voting for individuals.
You know I never thought of that, that could be the case now that you say it. I read an article earlier in the show that thought inTENsity would go a long way on the simple fact of the numbers they had and that didn't work out.
There were definitely too many in that group, especially without a frontman or woman. They were like one of the group of back-up dancers/singers for the other contestants, without anyone to vote for.
I think the groups aren't doing well because the show is just as much of a popularity/personality contest as a talent contest - and people get to know solo performers much better, and are more invested.
Edit - also, what's with Simon saying that Stereo Hogzz are the best band in the world one week, only to vote them off the next?
I felt a little sorry for Paula being in the same position two weeks in a row. It was a bit awkward when she refused to vote...the host should've come to her second or first, then it would've been even more confusing.
Beyoncé is not an ally. Actions speak louder than words, Mrs. Carter. #Dubai #$$$
Lakoda Rayne or whatever their names are.. are just absolutely awful. And it makes me sad because they'll without a doubt be eliminated next week. Poor Paula.
Anyone think the host is a little cold? I understand that he's not really a name that could be easily replaced so I'm sure he's trying to play by the rules to please producers but geeze he's rough. I for one like that the performances are "produced" per say with sets, dancers, etc. The one complaint I would have is that the elimination shows seem to be a jumbled mess, no flow and always hectic. In other news I enjoyed Jessie J :)
I've watched enough public vote reality TV to know how the bottom 2 will break down for the foreseeable future. Lakoda Rayne will be in the bottom 2 until they are eliminated. They will be joined by Stacy Francis, Drew, Melanie, and Chris Rene until they are eliminated. The order is nondescript groups, then solo women who look like women, then polarizing men, then non-sexually appealing men.
The final 3 or so will be the little girl Rachel, Leroy Bell, and Josh Krajcik. Astro will last for a while but will eventually be booted when the public opinion turns on him for beating out singers on a singing show. Chris Rene and Marcus Canty might get booted at the first opportunity to spare some solo female singers. The show will fight against the typical American Idol boy's club voting results (where the first few weeks see all but two female acts eliminated). Lakoda Rayne will not be eliminated next week to save Paula's creative input on the show.
My theory on groups is that they don't identify with the audience in the same way that single artists do.
For instance we know a bit about young Rachel or 60 yr old LeRoy Bell but I could not tell you the name of one of the members of either group Lakoda Rayne or The Stereo Hogz.
I think people vote for the people that they feel a connection to and you just don't connect with groups in the same way. My guess would be that they will eliminate groups from future iterations of the show.
I'm not a fan of astro or his music, but the kid's in a hard place. He's gotten a big head from all the adoration piled on him by the adult music professionals but he's not mature enough to be able to handle the situation. I think he's too young for this right now.
I am a big fan of Rachel Crow, but I think it's also too early for her. It could be a mistake in putting such young kids through this. Just my thoughts.
Eh, Stacey needed to go, and honestly Leroy Bell needs to go as well. And of course Lakoda Rayne. :/
I was disappointed in Astro's attitude last night. He probably lost a majority of his fan base because of that. Still, he's by far one of the most talented left on the show. I hope he lasts a little bit longer.
Stacy couldnt pick a key either night she sang this week. She was terrible. The whole first part of Amazing Grace was in the WRONG KEY and it's a SINGING show. It's not a charity show, so putting her through because she needs it more (how would you judge such a thing?) would demean the show. I understand the sentiment of liking her better, and the audience agreed, but that's not the show.
That Astro was a little ahole, but I think that swagger is part of the kind of artist he's trying to be and has been taught to admire. He showed his true self, and age, when he started crying though.
Decoder Ring should've gone home however. They are terrible.

Okay...then it's a TALENT show featuring musical acts....and like him or not, and I dont, that little brat has talent.

A 15-year-old rapper is hardly anything new. I don't see why people are going so gaga over him. Lil' Bow Wow did the same thing 11 years ago! And he started even younger than Astro.
