She was being seriously considered for Paulette in LEGALLY BLONDE, then they went a different way. She did have a reputation for being a "handfull". And 8 perfs a week might be too much for her to handle these days. Her voice has suffered over the years due to "emotional" singing. Even in her "heyday" her voice would come and go. But, she is a very unique, special talent.
Patash, shortly before her stint began in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS she appeared (however briefly) in THE LITTLE PRINCE AND THE AVIATOR in late 1981/ early 1982.
Of course, does it count if the show never opened?
And don't forget RACHEL LILY ROSENBLUM AND DON'T YOU EVER FORGET IT!
Chrisma, Good to hear she was responsible when you worked with her, she IS a lovely person, she just had "issues" at times. More of the "spacey" variety, than anything else.

From Lindsay Anderson's diaries (mind you, this was 30 years ago):
"The kindest word for Ellen, when one has gotten over the temptation to strangle her, is, I suppose, 'unstable'. Hysteria is never far away, particularly when she feels threatened by the necessity to *perform*. One can only envy her absolute and all-excluding egotism, which can see the world simply and solely in terms of her own emotions, her own sensibility, her own being. It is *her* achievement that we are all on schedule, so how can she be denied a few extras to perform in front of? *She* is exhausted: *she* is breaking under the strain. Her voice grows tense, the eyes fill with tears--hysteria is just around the corner. At such moments the overriding concern is to get the patient to the operating table without catastrophe. 'Get the f**king extras and subtract them from Wednesday's call!" I hiss to Jamie."
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

I dont see why she couldnt do some shows @ 54 Below. Seems like a perfect fit. I second Pippin, Cinderella, Wicked. I'd love a role where she sings a lot, but part of me just wants her on Broadway.
