And JB is a steady paycheck where he'll almost certainly be making more than he was, and guaranteed employment for a while. Artists need to make money, people seem to forget that sometimes.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

He's got a gorgeous voice (much nicer than Morrison's IMHO) and I look forward to seeing what he does in a farce when he let's go. Good for him. Plus, he freaking hot!

I think it's just that Andy has brought so much to the part and created something really unique for himself that it's hard to duplicate. I don't know Samonsky's work so I can't comment on his talent but to me I am a bit disappointed it wasn't as thoughtful casting as Erin Davie as Rosa.

That's your opinion and nothing more. A lot of people will be excited to see him in the role.

Did I say it was anything other than my opinion? It's just a fact that they made some changes to the script during rehearsals and previews to work around what Andy created in the part. It will be difficult for someone else to replace him and be forced to replicate moments that were unique to someone else's performance. It's a tough place for any actor to be in. I'm sure Samonsky will be fine, nothing against him. I do wonder if they'll change the eyebrows line back to the old on.
Kelly2, I understand your disappointment, but do they really have a choice? Someone has to take over for him; I'm sure Andrew Samonsky can bring something fresh to the show.
Oh, I know. No disappointment from me, I'm sure he will have a new take on the role and the show obviously couldn't just not replace him. I was just musing aloud, I guess, about whether or not they'd make any changes to the script to accommodate Samonsky and allow him to work in some of his own original bits.
I liked Andy Karl in the role, but I'd have been just as happy to see the under-appreciated Samonsky, whom I've liked ever since SOUTH PACIFIC. (Yes, I think he is superior to the overrated Matthew Morrison.) Samonsky was one of the few good elements in SCANDALOUS. I hope he gets to originate more lead roles in worthier musicals.
