Heard a rumor that one of the not-for-profts, either MTC or Roundabout, might bring in this production of GYPSY as part of their season. Of course, the great Imelda has just been announced for Martha in WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? in London. Any news?
She'll be sensational in Virginia Woolf?, but have we heard if Roundabout is having another musical this season? I've heard a lot of negative things about Holiday Inn recently and I can't imagine that being their only musical this season.

Roundabout's last spot for the season was filled by Marvin's Room.
I thought she overacted terribly on the video. I'd rather see her as Martha than Rose.
I feel this rather depressing play needs an 11 o'clock number [preferably the finale from Gypsy] inserted when least expecting it] .After all the design is rather shabby/cardigans/kids/no kids-perfect!
Martha to George--after she swears and beats him----'Here she is world--Heeeere's Mar[tha]'--it will work !
I remember reading here that Roundabout talks fell through, and that Holiday Inn could extend through to the summer. Either way, Roundabout was holding off on announcing an additional Broadway show for their season, but that turned out to be Marvin's Room.
BroadwayWorld article from a month or two ago said Staunton was in talks to bring the production in 2018, but it didn't mention a specific season. Either way, she's doing Virginia Woolf in London this winter, so it won't be anytime soon.
From my understanding the very negative buzz after the screening/dvd release stateside killed any talks. After seeing it in person and on video I think that's for the best. Her Lovett would be a much more welcome transfer, either in that production of Sweeney or a new one.
