A Caroline, or Change revival is called for. After the success of Fun Home, another Tesori musical might be more intriguing to people. It's an important show for modern audiences. I'd give my vote for director to Sam Gold. Caroline probably isn't right for Lincoln Center though, I feel like it should be in a more intimate theatre.
Ragtime has a very classic feel to it that would fit in with their previous shows such as South Pacific and The King and I. Plus, I'm dying to see a grand production of it like the original.

Ragtime was last revived in 2009. Ain't gonna happen.
I totally forgot that I really really want a Candide revival using a slightly cut version of John Caird's script with crazy elaborate production values. That would be wonderful.

Candide would be wonderful.
Ragtime may have been revived in 2009, but it was a pretty drab production that nobody really remembers.

LCT has that magic touch that should only look at certain shows. My pipe dream choices would be Funny Girl, Dream Girls, Kiss Me Kate, Oh Kay, City of Angels, and possibly My Fair Lady, and Mame. Let's not please bring up the parenial revivals like Gypsy, The Sound Of Music, and West Side Story. Isn't Carosel coming in from Chicago?? I'm not sure that anyone will touch Hello Dolly while Carol Channing is still alive. Pearl Baily is already gone and I don't feel that anybody can currently recreate the iconic Channing.

Well luckily Dolly Levi is a rich role that lends itself to many interpretations and there are plenty of actresses who are more than capable of giving a fresh take on the role: Queen Latifah, Reba, Bernadette Peters, Patti LuPone, Linda Emond, Tonya Pinkins, Donna Murphy, Jane Krakowski, and Glenn Close come to mind. Channing will always be iconic but that doesn't mean orher actresses couldn't do wonders with the part.
THE MOST HAPPY FELLA with Laura Benanti, who got raves at Encores!, seems like a natural choice.

Let's address the first part of the problem here. Using some basic reading comprehension one should be able to deduce that Roundabout didn't "turn" any women's roles into men's roles, because Roundabout has not produced this production. It premiered at Williamstown Theatre Festival and, as I stated, though Roundabout was in talks to bring it in a few years ago but discussions fell through.
Secondly, a quick Google search of "Williamstown all male forum" brings up plenty of articles so that you can see that the reason it was staged that way was as a nod to the original plays by Plautus and the fact that they would have been staged with men playing the women's roles, as women were banned from the stage at that point in history. No characters were "made gay."
For someone who wants to be taken seriously you should really consider doing some fact-checking before posting.

It would make no sense for LCT and it would be hard to compete with the recent revival but I like the idea of something Hair in that space. What I mean is a show that you don't have to see head on to appreciate because there are so many different angles in that theatre and I show that goes out into the audience a bit. I don't remember how much they did it in South Pacific but I feel like actors were constantly passing through the aisles during The King and I. It would be nice to find a show where that made more sense for the material.

If Roundabout were to do MOST HAPPY FELLA (which I don't think is too unbelievable given what other shows they've given revivals to) they would sadly give the glorious original orchestration a reduction and while the show has been done successfully with a duo piano if it's coming back to broadway it deserves a sumptuous production!!

I think Show Boat or The Most Happy Fella would both be terrific ideas. Has Vanessa Williams ever played Julie La Verne? Because I think she would be perfect for it.
ETA: I just googled it, she just did it last year with the Philharmonic! How did I not know that??
I get so bummed when they don't record Encores! productions (AKA most of them). Laura Benanti in The Most Happy Fella is one of the ones that I most wished I could have seen or heard. Her starring in a Lincoln Center revival would be wonderful.

So interesting for me to hear this summary of it. Back in 2009, I'm pretty sure people on this forum generally loved that revival and were pretty sad to see it close early.

I've heard quite a bit about Street Scene. I'm a big fan of Weill's work and I'm very intrigued by it. Is there a specific recording of it that you recommend?

I was talking more about the general public. I saw it with a few other people who didn't know the show at all and they found the production boring. I enjoyed it because I love the show, but it was nowhere close to being as good as the original. They later listened to the OBC and enjoyed it a lot more. I want a production that rivals the original. Im sorry that wasnt clear with what I meant.

I have the OBC and English Opera recording of Street Scene and adore both - the Engljsh Opera being complete, but the cast of the OBC definitive. Galveston recommended the score to me and also highly suggested that Scottish Opera recording, which I haven't listened to due to it not being on iTunes. Regardless, he was correct about how wonderful the score was - as is most of Weill's work. (Another chance for me to recommend the OBC of LoveMusik for the great performances and the eclectic songs by Weill. Donna and Michael give astounding performances)

The Scottish Opera recording is out of print, which is sad because it was my favorite of the three major releases: OBC (which was heavily abridged); English National Opera (featuring a young Catherine Zeta-Jones singing "Moon Faced, Starry Eyed"), and the studio recording featuring the Scottish Opera and Orchestra. I find some of the tempos on the English National Opera recording to be a bit sluggish for my taste. The Scottish Opera recording has a much greater sense of vibrancy and urgency.
If you search on Youtube you can find the entire Scottish Opera recording there.
The show still has a bit of a life amongst opera houses, though it's been a while since I've heard any of the major companies (San Francisco, Houston Grand, National Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and others at that level) including it in their seasons.
