"This looks smooth to the semi's."

should be. The semi's should end up being USA vs. Germany & Japan/Brazil vs. Canada.

I think I like sports because i like competitiveness on benign levels.  USA on to round of 8.

Ladies football is certainly at benign levels

No matter how far the US Women go in this tournament, Jill Ellis should be fired as their coach.  Most of the teams in this tournament play better soccer than we do.  The quality of play of most Div 1 college teams is higher than what we're doing, so I'm certain that our players are capable of more than this.

I understand why the American woman are way better than our men in this sport, what's England's excuse?

I've worked it out now. England ladies good, men bad.

Last England game was the first game I have watched at world cup. Tactic is biggest players, Williams, whacks it 50 yards and the fastest player chases it. Under 14's level I thought. Terrible football so your comment confused me. Soz.

What I meant was that this is your (assuming) national sport.  Even though I've been rooting for you guys in all previous World Cups you suck balls.

I hope it's US vs England in the final.

In other news...being in attendance to watch the New York Red Bulls DESTROY NYCFC on their home turf was the perfect way to end a fantastic pride weekend.

Also...Yankee Stadium is a horrible place to watch a soccer match.

Regarding Red Bulls vs NYCFC, it was great to FINALLY see Sacha Kljestan play well.  Red Bulls dominated after the first 15 minutes or so.  I think Jesse Marsch is working wonders with this group, too bad they didn't have him when the talent level was higher.

I really like Marsch.

But I think Henry and Cahill being gone are really good for the team. They clearly were not all in last season and I feel like they dragged the whole team down.

Hoping for the best tonight.  Defense has been rock solid, Solo is the best, and Carli Lloyd seems to be hitting her stride.  Germany seemed very beatable against France.  Fingers crossed.

USA played their best soccer of the tournament, and got a little lucky with a couple of key calls.  But they were the better team for the majority of the game, and they deserved the win.  On to the finals!

Laird, why are your women in the final 4 and your men barely get in to the tournament every time?  Isn't this what you guys are good at?

The women deserve better than this.  They deserve better officiating, they deserve better fields, they deserve better treatment from FIFA.  They're treated like second class citizens.

Tough loss for the English women last night.  They were the better team for much of the match, then to lose so late on such an unfortunate touch.  Ouch.

Inappropriate to call Tuesday VE Day and Sunday VJ Day?
