Getting someone else to stand in rush line for you?

I was wondering if there are policies in place against this? My aunt is coming into town for New Years Eve and wants to get rush tix for H2$ on January 1. Since she will be out partying the night before, she was thinking about paying someone to stand in the rush line for her and then taking their spot when the Box Office opened. Is this allowed?

It's nice of her to think of offering to pay someone. I'd find some poor sap willing to do it for a cup of coffee and cigarette.

It's technically not breaking any rule, but it is kind of rude to the people who are willing to get up early and wait in line. It's not even like she's traveling, she'll just be sleeping from partying.

If there's no way to convince her to just haul herself out of bed for a few hours and then nap during the day, then if she doesn't want to piss off everyone else in line, just have the person in line purchase the ticket and she can get it from them a little later.

Seeing how that's Radcliffe's last performance, it's going to be crazy packed....and I wouldn't be shocked if there is no rush available.

But no, it's not technically a problem. A problem would be: if someone stood in line for her and then just let her cut. If it's clear that one is simmply taking the place of the other, it's fairly legit (if anyone gives you a dirty look, you could just 'say' the tix are for both of you...so you just took turns.)

Well depending on how much she plans to pay, why doesn't she just buy a ticket at full price? (If there are any available)

Radcliffe plays through Dec 31. Monday, January 1st is the usual dark day and Darren (Babylove) Criss starts the 2nd.

The question may be moot.

In the last 5-10 years most shows are dark the night of the 31st because Times Square gets just too crazy. Matinees if scheduled will play. Jan. 1st is a holiday with time-and-a-half or double time. Often the first, whatever day of the week it is, is also a dark day.

The 1st is on a Sunday and, as already stated, that is Radcliffe's final performance day.

The plan certainly circumvents the spirit of the rush policy, but if you're going that route, I would definitely have the stand-in stay there and buy the ticket, then pick it up from him or her immediately after. For Radcliffe's final performance, I'd imagine the native will get quite restless if you step into a place someone else had been holding for hours.

I agree with madbrian. I admit, I would. I would be a bit upset if I were standing there for hours and someone who decided to sleep in and paid another person to hold their spot walked up jusrt before tickets were able to be purchased.

A girl did did something like that at BOM when I was in the standing room line and we were screaming at her. Only she worked it from the lottery angle. She lost the lottery, got "chummy" with the first person in line and waited until the box office opened for standing room and got a ticket ahead of all of us who had been standing there for over 3 hours. (This was before the Tonys!)

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I am going to tell her its against the rules and it will get her banned from all future rushes. Hopefully that will motivate her lazy ass to get out there!
