Guh? So many questions. Will this be eligible for the "special event" Tony? Since this is in the New Amsterdam, does that mean Rush is in the running to be the next Mufasa? Is there any way all of us can just buy up the tickets so the money is raised, but then none of us show up?

One night only concerts/benefits/shows are not Tony eligible or else all the Actor's Fund, BCEFA Concerts et al would be up too. You can't get 750 voters (plus guests) into a one night only event so no eligibility.
My question is why the hell would Limbaugh come New York City -- one of the most liberal places in the country -- to do ....... whatever it is he does? No suitable venues in Orange County? Does he know a good dealer here? Perhaps, he'll bring his maid along just in case he needs a fix.

That was going to be my next question. What exactly is he going to do? Sit on a Manhattan stage (on a Tuesday night outside of the tourist season, mind you) and bash liberals for 90 minutes? One would think that doing a benefit like this would be a time to not be partisan, but considering Hannity's doing the intro, I somehow doubt it. I'll give credit to anyone who's doing anything toward Katrina relief, but this? Just seems weird.
I'd go out of morbid curiosity if I wasn't so afraid that some of the audience he might attract might beat the crap out of me or something.
Too bad about the Tony, though. It would've been fun to see him sandwiched between Harvey Fierstein and Rosie O'Donnell next June.

But I doubt it... I have an eery feeling he's gonna do what he always does rant for a couple of hours about how the liberals are screwing up America while outside the theatre Bush has another 4 years to run the country even more into the ground. That was my problem with your post. Do you really think that the victims of this tragedy are the ones who are going to benefit most from this spectacle. NO! This is merely an attempt for Rush to show how "compassionate" conservatives are while spreading propaganda. Why else would SEAN HANNITY be introducing him. Yes it's true I'm very liberal (surprise surprise) but honestly I don't hate all conservatives. I thought Bush Sr. and Clinton running relief efforts in southeast asia was a BRILLIANT idea. Why doesnt Rush do a show with Al Franken or Michael Moore....think how much money that would raise! But alas how would he spew his filth then. Conservatives arent ruining America...people like Rush are.

See...YES, I'd like to think those who lived through this tragedy may possibly be somehow helped. I'd like to think that anyone viewing the suffering in the south would want to reach out an assist anyway they can. I would like to think that everyone was touched by this disaster and feels compelled to act.
But then I don't possess your apparent clairvoyant powers to realize it's nothing but another right wing conspiracy. My psychic abilities fail me in seeing and judging what's in another's heart and mind.
And I realize it's foolish on my part not to automatically vilify someone attempting to do a good deed because of his politics.
I also realize tolerance and open mindedness seem to have no place on this board any longer due to far too much blind hate by a few. And that hate just begets more hate.

Of course everyone deserves a chance and shouldnt be shot down immediatly, but clearly what with sean hannity introducing him this is not Rush Limbaugh at Liberty! So because of that I thought to criticize this man, oh my what an awful person I am. This is why the democrats (the "liberal" party of the US) have lost all 3 branches of government etoile! Because most of the members of the democratic party need to get some b***s. Rush is actively advocating for the destruction of my way of life you can let him take it without a fight, but I will not. Get off my high horse and realize that debate and criticism is what democracy is about? You mean except when it applies to someone you don't agree with, like Limbaugh.
I'm the one advocating for this not be partisan. I guess I don't see a need to throw stones at anyone attempting to raise money for disaster relief. Anyone. And from that respect, I like my view up here just fine. I also suspect the American Red Cross wouldn't mind Rush's signature at the bottom of a check because they too seem capable of seeing a bigger picture.

I think you're kind of missing some of the poster's points, etoile. It's not that charity work is anything to be questioned, but his motives can be called into question. Why would such an outspoken critic of government programs, welfare, poverty-class citizens want to turn around and help the very same people? And to do it in a hotbed of liberalism like NYC?
It does seem a little contradictory at best.
I have no intentions of seeing Rush's show, and I hope his act is a sign of a change of heart and not the kick-off to his book tour or his new line of pithy bumper stickers.
Wouldn't you be a little suspicious if Bill Maher started hanging with the pope?
