Cantankerous Carolyn Whitlock has been in hospice for far too long and just wants to die already. But she'll have to work harder than she ever has in her privileged life to convince her oversharing and very Christian nurse to help her end it. Together, two women are forced to confront lifes (and death's) most difficult questions in this fast-paced, heart-grabbing comedy. Dead and Breathing investigates morality, mortality, and the intense tug-of-war between the right to die with dignity and the idea of life as a gift.The play first appeared as part of the Contemporary American Theater Festival in 2014. Rapid Lemon Productions is pleased to bring Chisa Hutchinson's amazing script to area audiences for the first time. Noah Silas (Give Me Moonlight 2020 and Serious Adverse Effects 2021) directs this powerful and funny two-hander, starring J Purnell Hargrove and Valerie Lewis.Dates: 8:00pm March 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26; 5:00pm March 13, 20, and 27.
