The Warner Stage Company enjoys one of the most active community theatre program in Connecticut and one of the best in America. Main Stage productions offer actors the opportunity to perform great musicals in the dramatic setting of an historic 1,772-seat art deco venue. The 300 seat Studio Theatre offers an intimate venue for plays and musicals.

All roles are open to auditions. Those auditioning must be 16 years or older (with the exception of LIttle Inez-auditioner for that role should be 10+) and should be prepared to sing from the show or in the style of the show. Auditioners will also be asked to perform a brief dance combination that will be taught at the audition. Please supply sheet music if your audition selection is not from HAIRSPRAY. Accompaniment will be provided.

Rehearsals will be held on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning September 6, 2011. Not all cast members will be called for every rehearsal. There will be one midweek rehearsal on Thursday, November 10. If you are unable to make all the performances and the midweek rehearsal, we will be unable to cast you in this production.

Audition appointments by e-mail are preferred, but if you do not have access to e-mail, call the Warner Theatre Audition Line at 860-489-7180 ext 151. ABOUT THE SHOW
HAIRSPRAY is a musical with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittmand and Shaiman and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, based on the 1988 John Waters film Hairspray. In 1962, Baltimore, MD plump teenager Tracy Turnblad's dream is to dance on the Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program based on the real-life Buddy Deane Show. When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight. She then launces a campaign to integrate the show. HAIRSPRAY is a social commentary on the injustices of parts of American society in the 1960s.
