Baltimore playwright Peter Davis will present two of his Parlor Plays, "Orange!" and "Number 9," on May 9th and 10th at 7 and 9pm, at Church and Company, 3649 Falls Road in Hampden. In addition, audience members will have the opportunity to participate in a staged reading of a third play during each performance. Previews of the plays will be held on May 8 at 8 pm.

The first two plays, Orange! and Number 9 are each about ten minutes long and feature two characters. "I love the discipline and constraint required by the ten minute play. Mine are specifically rooted in place and universal in themes. The characters tend to be ordinary people faced with making decisions they aren't prepared for. My favorite themes are death and desire, power and mercy," said Davis. "Orange! and Number 9 look at power, getting it, keeping it and losing it."

"The third play sets up a moment of grace. The audience will be invited into the process of honing a new work," he continued, "and we hope it will spark interest in the next pop-up!"

The venue offers the warmth of a home and the funky vibe of a salon. Tickets prices are $12 for the May 9th and 10th performances; donations will be accepted for the preview on May 8. Refreshments will be available at an additional cost.

You may reserve your tickets by writing to davisbrandstory@gmail.com. Payment by cash or check will also be accepted at the door. Visit Parlor Plays by Peter Davis on Facebook for more information.
