Stephen is also the cabaret/ music and co-theatre editor of the Times Square Chronicles. He studied at the Manhattan School of Music. Besides being a pianist, Stephen’s business career was in the Fashion Industry. He was CEO of a textile manufacturing facility and President of an international textile machinery company. Stephen was on the Board of Directors of the “First All Children’s Theatre” which brought the Stephen Schwartz musical The Trip and Captain Louie to the Kennedy Center in Wash DC. His wife Eda, an interior space designer and classical pianist was on the Board of Barrington Stage Company and is still active at BSC. He is active in the entertainment events at the Friars Club, where he is a member, and a voting member Berkshire Theatre Critics Association. For almost half a century, the Friars Club Sunshine Committee has been dedicated to bringing Friarly Sunshine into the lives of those in need, bringing laughs to children and the elderly in hospitals and nursing homes, and at the annual Christmas/Chanukah spectacular for disadvantaged children. Last night this charitable arm of the club presented a laugh a minute during their annual Comedy Night and Broadwayworld was there photo and laugh along. Although the politically incorrect and xxx rated humor cannot be recounted here (what happens in the Friars stays in the Friars), MC Stewie Stone did point out after one of the comics hysterical routine that this particular comedienne wanted to be Donald Trumps running mate. The night was a fund raiser by the Sunshine Committee and the live auction was extremely rewarding and also very funny.

The Metropolitan Room hosted two simultaneous events last night. The 10th year of the MAC Award Winning Benefit Series Cabaret Cares, and the 3rd 40th Birthday of the charities creator Joseph Macchia. The non profit Joseph started 10 years ago has raised over $100,000 to help children living with HIV and AIDS. It was a cabaret spectacular and Broadwayworld was there to catch all the action. Friars Club had a special Bottoms Up Happy Hour last night to introduce two new bartenders, Jeanette and Joe. The jam packed Lucille Ball room also featured the piano stylings and vocals of Friar Stephen Sorokoff. After a very happy few hours many members enjoyed dinner in the Frank Sinatra dinning room where one of the menu selections was Friar Jimmy Fallon's Favorite Chicken Chow Mein. Even some Friars who were rained out of the Tennis Open were happy as they listened to Stephen's Billy Stritch, Buddy Greco, Errol Garner, & Steve Tyrell influenced musical offerings.
