Kathy Strain - Page 5

Kathy Strain

Kathy Strain grew up outside of Philadelphia and enjoyed listening to many genres of music including Broadway musicals. Music was always present in her home with her parents both being musicians. In a family of eight children, Kathy was the second youngest and most of her siblings were also musically inclined. There was always music playing or being played in the house. Kathy was involved in her middle school and high school choir and drama classes that influenced her continuing enjoyment of music and theater. She moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2001 where she raised three children with her husband Ken. They have a grandson who is four and a granddaughter who is under one. She was a non-traditional student and returned to college when her children were all in school. Kathy holds a degree in Communication/Public Relations from the University of Texas at San Antonio and also works at a local college instructing students in writing. She has enjoyed attending Broadway shows wherever she has lived. Kathy loves to contribute pieces on the arts and enjoys writing about talent and sharing it. She especially loves the opportunities to interview actors, singers, musicians, and dancers who share their passion for the arts. Attending shows and writing reviews is another amazing opportunity too.

Yesterday was the big one: Tech Day. For those unfamiliar, that means we do a rough run of the show where we add technical elements like set changes or lighting, stopping and starting to adjust or solidify traffic patters, take a dinner break, and then run the show again from start to finish.

BWW Review: FINDING NEVERLAND is Endearing to Audiences in San Antonio
May 3, 2017

Going to see FINDING NEVERLAND for the first time didn't raise any specific expectations. Having heard a little bit about it over the years, there were a few things to consider. It was the story of J.M. Barrie and how he came to write the famed Peter Pan story many years ago. It was well received by audiences on Broadway but was snubbed by the Tony Awards. But, still going in with an open mind and desire to know what the story was all about, it was pleasantly surprising.
