Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and Lendlease have entered into a partnership which will bring together children and families through a diverse program of Queensland community arts events.

QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas said that the organisations shared a desire to connect with communities, create places and spaces for generations to enjoy, and deliver a lifetime of rich experiences and meaningful memories. This makes Lendlease an excellent fit as Principal Partner for QPAC's Out of the Box.

"QPAC and Lendlease have a shared focus to embrace community diversity and build a sense of belonging amongst our youngest and future citizens now.

"We welcome Lendlease as a Principal Partner of Out of the Box and together we will engage more children outside of our biennially presented Out of the Box festival. Children will have opportunities in the arts to explore, learn, create and have fun in their local Lendlease community," said Mr Kotzas.

"Lendlease's commitment, along with QPAC's creative team will underpin the delivery of many programs which will see Out of the Box working with communities in South East Queensland, over the next two years in the lead up to the 2018 Festival at QPAC.

"With Lendlease's support Out of the Box will develop and present a program that will build arts literacy, grow access and engagement with cultural experiences, bring communities together and offer performance opportunities for local artists," said Mr Kotzas.

Managing Director of Lendlease's Communities business, Matthew Wallace said Lendlease is very excited to be partnering with Queensland's premier performing arts venue, QPAC.

"The Out of the Box arts and culture program supports our commitment to building sustainable, active communities encouraging residents to feel welcome and engaged.

"People are at the heart of what we do and our business takes a holistic approach to master-planning, focusing on the lifestyle and community benefits to provide a strong sense of belonging," he said.

Through this exclusive partnership, Lendlease will work with QPAC's 2016 Out of the Box Festival Director and be part of QPAC's suite of community activations including children's art work displays, performances, cultural experiences and movie nights.

QPAC will also engage artists and provide curatorial direction for established Lendlease community events to provide a unique and memorable point of difference.

The first outcome of the QPAC and Lendlease partnership will be members of the QPAC Choir joining Lendlease's Christmas Carols program this Saturday 10 December 2016 at Yarrabilba.

Following on 11 December 2016 will be a QPAC produced performance event showcasing members of the QPAC Choir and a range of local community groups at Springfield Lakes. This event will also feature a Wishing Tree, an installation which premiered at the 2014 Out of the Box festival, where people can write and display their wishes to the world in the festive season.

Planning is underway for further community activations as part of the Lendlease and the QPAC partnership.
