It's everybody's worst nightmare. You're standing on the stage. The last note of the overture dies in the air... But you don't know your lines! What's the choreography?! Harmonies? Were you supposed to learn harmonies?! This might terrify you, but it thrills Original Cast and their audiences alike every night as they step out with nothing and create a whole new musical on the spot.

Original Cast are proud to bring The Completely Improvised Musical to the Butterfly club. Using nothing but their wits, skills and a title provided by the audience each night, these improvisers will present a run of 5 sparkling new musicals.

From soaring ballad to improvised dance, Original Cast provide all the excitement that theatre-goers have craved since the days of vaudeville, completely on the spot!

Original Cast have enjoyed successful seasons at the Improv Conspiracy Theatre, leaving audiences begging for more. Each performance is a completely new work, utilizing Song, Dance, harmony, brand new characters and a whole plot made up on the fly. Sounds impossible right?

The performers include veterans of Melbourne's premier improvisation troupes, The Improv Conspiracy and Impro Melbourne, as well as graduates of WAAPA, the Victorian College of the Arts, Federation University and Chicago's world-famous iO Theatre. Even the musical accompaniment is completely improvised by some of Melbourne's best up and coming musical directors, with the troupe under the direction of Green Room Award winner Andrew Strano.
Original Cast: The Completely Improvised Musical is a truly dazzling feat of improvisational theatre. Inspired by Sondheim, Schwartz, Kander, Ebb, Rodgers, Hammerstein, Lloyd-Webber, Rice, Fosse, Robbins, Prince, Tesori, Miranda and more, they stand on the backs of giants, demonstrating why audiences have fallen in love with musicals again and again.
