In mid-November for a short season, The Melba Spiegeltent at Circus Oz in Collingwood will be home to 3 Speed Crunch Box by Dislocate - a humorous, frenetic and fantastically physical comedy where families and young people can get up close and personal with action-packed circus.

Bombarding the senses with live antics, witty clowning and explosive action, Dislocate has reimagined this season of 3 Speed Crunch Box to suit the intimate atmosphere of The Melba Spiegeltent.

Following three friends who are determined to perform the biggest circus trick the world has ever seen, 3 Speed Crunch Box proves anything is possible with a shared goal, a little hard work, a heap of persistence and a whole lot of imagination.

Touring since 2007 throughout Australia, Singapore, South Korea, India and Spain, 3 Speed Crunch Box combines highly-skilled acrobatics with slapstick comedy; aerial antics with ridiculous characters; performances on tissue, Spanish web, cloudswing, duo juggling and a vaudevillian cigar boxes act.

During weekday performances of 3 Speed Crunch Box, school audiences can combine seeing the performance with a circus skills workshop inside the Circus Oz main rehearsal spaces.
The circus workshops will create a unique learning experience for students, immersing them in the art of a circus performance and providing them with an opportunity to experience important life skills of trust, resilience, teamwork and contributing to personal goals in a safe and inclusive environment.

Circus Oz Artistic Director, Rob Tannion, says that Dislocate have a deep relationship with Circus Oz and are really well placed to reach younger audiences who have not experienced circus in smaller and intimate spaces like The Melba Spiegeltent.

Founded in 2000 by Kate Fryer and Geoffrey Dunstan, Helpmann Award nominated Dislocate is one of Australia's leading independent circus ensembles, creating risk-taking, physical theatre that breaks boundaries and combines highly-skilled circus feats with contemporary narratives. Earlier this year Circus Oz and Dislocate collaborated with Victorian Opera to present Laughter and Tears.

"Circus is for everyone and we are committed to supporting the circus industry ecosystem by championing companies like Dislocate - a small, independent circus company who share a lot of the same values, appetite for innovation and exploration, and beliefs as us," said Tannion.

Tickets are $18, avaialble at eventbrite.com.au.

Circus Oz: Credited with revitalising a traditional art form in a uniquely Australian way, Circus Oz is a rock 'n' roll, animal-free circus that has influenced the development of circus arts around the world since its foundation in 1978. Circus Oz undertook its first and critically praised international tour in 1980 and has continued touring to over 100 cities and regions in 27 countries - playing to over four million people.
