  3. Mozart Requiem Undead

Less than one year before Mozart died, he received a commission for a death mass from a mysterious stranger who intended to pass it off as his own composition. Mozart died penniless before he completed his final composition. To pay for his funeral, his widow had one of his students complete the work as we know it today: Mozart’s Requiem Mass.

The exciting Mozart Requiem Undead project takes it back to square one. In this quirky and oversized collaboration between the Golden Hornet Project, Fusebox Festival, Texas Choral Consort, and Texas Performing Arts, the masterwork is stripped back to what Mozart himself had on paper – the choral parts and figured bass – and put in the hands of Austin’s Graham Reynolds and Peter Stopschinski who head a pack of luminary alt-classical composers from Texas and beyond in re-imagining a new completion for this masterpiece, starting where Wolfgang Amadeus left off. Be amazed and delighted as the musicians and singers take Mozart into a new world!
