Charles Roven and Richard Suckle are producing the new film.

They were also the duo behind the 2002 and 2004 part live-action, part animated Scooby-Doo films, which drew $275 million and $180 million worldwide, respectively. The movies starred Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Gardellini in the four main roles.

The new film, like the others, is based on Hanna-Barbera's animated TV series Scooby-Doo: Where Are You?, which debuted in 1969.

The series followed a group of friends and their dog as they traveled in a van -- The Mystery Machine -- solving strange, and often goofy, mysteries.
