Walks of New York, the newest sightseeing and walking tour company, has announced the addition of a new theater district walking tour - Broadway: Behind The Curtain.

Unique to the experience is a first-time opportunity to have exclusive access inside a closed Broadway theater where guests can learn about the history and culture of theater in New York from a genuine Broadway insider. Exploring the roots of New York theater from its heyday during the 1920s to the resurgence that has taken place over the past years, participants will hear stories of colorful Broadway characters from Florenz Ziegfeld to Ethel Merman from a true Broadway insider.

In addition to exploring the district, participants will also get insight into the business of the "Great White Way" from inside one of its legendary theaters from the life of a performer to the long road to Broadway from inception to closing night. They'll also see firsthand the theater where stars such as Barbra Streisand made her Broadway debut and where Shirley McLaine went on an understudy, and came back a star.

"It's impossible to think of New York without thinking of Broadway, but coming to the area and to Times Square can be intimidating for many tourists," notes Stephen Oddo, co-founder of Walks of New York. "What makes our tours unique and helps visitors to see past the crowds, is our guides. Each of our tours is led by a Broadway insider - could be an ex-Theater Manager or even a working actor. These are people who can share firsthand stories of what life is like for performers and stagehands, and can tell our guests the legends of Broadway, like why you never whistle backstage and the story of the ghost light. It makes a big difference."

Walks of New York's small group tours are limited to 12 people in order to provide a more personalized, small group experience with exclusive tours led by expert and passionate guides. Geared to both locals and visitors alike, other tours currently being offered include:
