From Asbury Park to Broadway? According to today's New York Post, The Boss, Bruce Springsteen is open to the idea of turning his recent critically acclaimed memoir into a Broadway musical!

The Post's Michael Riedel shares that at a recent party celebrating the new best-selling book "Born To Run", the rocker expressed interest in turning his life story into a Broadway production. Riedel went on to float the idea to several top producers, with one responding, "I haven't read the book yet, but I've read about it - all the good reviews. It can be tricky, though. Remember we had the Sting musical ["The Last Ship"] and the Bob Dylan musical ["The Times They Are A-Changin'?"]. They didn't work."

History however, also proves that autobiographical Broadway musicals can translate into box office gold. Consider such current hits as JERSEY BOYS, BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL and ON YOUR FEET.

Another producer had a more positive response to the idea of bringing the music of the New Jersey legend to the Broadway stage. "There's no question Broadway audiences are embracing rock and pop music more than ever," they said. "Our audience is so much bigger now than traditional musical-theater fans."

Among the classic tunes which could be included in the show's score are "Born To Run," "Born in the USA," "Glory Days," "Hungry Heart" and "Rosalita." Springsteen's gritty canon of music depicts his early childhood struggles on the road to becoming a Rock 'n Roll supertar - the stuff of true drama!
