The 4th Youth Cultural Festival Now Under Way

Hundreds of contemporary Chinese culture master artists gathered in Nanjing on March 22nd, 2014 for the 4th Youth Cultural Festival opening ceremony. The artists demonstrated a diverse range of Chinese folk arts such as gold foil forging, paper cutting, bamboo carving, and Chinese opera face painting. Participating artists not only gave live shows but worked hand in hand with young people to create works of art and keep the traditions alive in the hearts and minds of young people. This process helps illustrate the most important part of the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, which is to integrate culture, education and sport while putting emphasis on the sustainable development of the Olympic Movement.

Taking place from March 22nd to 30th, the 4th Youth Cultural Festival is a nine day event filled with exhilarating activities. These activities show Chinese style while integrating unique aspects of cultures from all over the world. Just part of the activities includes performances by 3,000 young people and over 300 overseas students as well as a Wushu performance, youth talent show, environmental activities, Youth symphony concerts, and eight quiz contests on YOG cultural and educational activities. This parade of activities has attracted millions of young people from around the world to Nanjing to experience the Olympic spirit and Chinese folk culture. The festival serves as an enthusiastic introduction to Nanjing and an invitation to the youth of the world to come be a part of the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

This fourth festival is the last Nanjing Youth Cultural Festival before the actual Youth Olympic Games begin. The activities celebrate our young people while emphasizing education, fun and interaction in the Olympic Culture experience.
